The EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is the 7-day TV guide that shows what is on each channel. When it is missing, blank, or stuck on yesterday, the user experience suffers. Here are 8 proven fixes for IPTV EPG issues in 2026.
1. Wait 2–5 minutes after first login
EPG is downloaded as a separate XMLTV feed after the channel list. On first login, give the app 5 minutes to fully sync. Force-quitting too early prevents the EPG from caching.
2. Refresh the EPG manually
Most IPTV apps have a refresh option:
- IPTV Smarters Pro: Settings → EPG → Update EPG.
- Tivimate: Settings → EPG → Force update EPG now.
- GSE Smart IPTV: Long-press the EPG section → Refresh.
- Smart IPTV (SIPTV): Re-upload the playlist from the web portal.
3. Check the EPG URL is set
If you used M3U login, your app may not have an EPG URL. Add it manually under Settings → EPG → External XMLTV URL. PrimeVision sends the EPG URL in your welcome email.
4. Switch to Xtream Codes API login
Xtream Codes API automatically pulls the EPG along with the channel list. If your app supports Xtream Codes, log out of your M3U profile and log back in with Xtream credentials — EPG usually appears immediately.
5. Make sure your time zone is correct
EPG appears stuck on yesterday or shifted by hours? Your device time zone is wrong. Set it to your local time zone in your TV or device settings, then refresh the EPG.
6. Clear the IPTV app cache
Cached EPG files can corrupt. On Firestick: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → IPTV Smarters → Clear Cache. On Android: Settings → Apps → IPTV Smarters → Storage → Clear Cache.
7. Increase the EPG cache size (Tivimate)
Tivimate users: Settings → EPG → EPG cache time → set to 24 hours. This forces a fresh download daily and avoids stale guides.
8. Reinstall the app as a last resort
If nothing works, uninstall and reinstall the IPTV app, then log in fresh. This clears every cache and config, and EPG usually returns immediately.
Still no EPG?
If you have done all 8 fixes and EPG is still missing, the issue is likely on the provider side — an outdated XMLTV feed or temporary EPG server outage. PrimeVision keeps EPG updated every 6 hours across all servers, so this is rarely the cause.
